Lower bound for a class of weak quantum coin flipping protocols

چکیده
We study the class of protocols for weak quantum coin flipping introduced by Spekkens and Rudolph (quant-ph/0202118). We show that, for any protocol in this class, one party can win the coin flip with probability at least 1/ √

Large family of quantum weak coin-flipping protocols
Each classical public-coin protocol for coin flipping is naturally associated with a quantum protocol for weak coin flipping. The quantum protocol is obtained by replacing classical randomness with quantum entanglement and by adding a cheat detection test in the last round that verifies the integrity of this entanglement. The set of such protocols defines a family which contains the protocol wi...
متن کاملTight Bounds for Classical and Quantum Coin Flipping
Coin flipping is a cryptographic primitive for which strictly better protocols exist if the players are not only allowed to exchange classical, but also quantum messages. During the past few years, several results have appeared which give a tight bound on the range of implementable unconditionally secure coin flips, both in the classical as well as in the quantum setting and for both weak as we...
متن کاملSerial composition of quantum coin flipping and bounds on cheat detection for bit commitment
Quantum protocols for coin flipping can be composed in series in such a way that a cheating party gains no extra advantage from using entanglement between different rounds. This composition principle applies to coin-flipping protocols with cheat sensitivity as well, and is used to derive two results: There are no quantum strong coin-flipping protocols with cheat sensitivity that is linear in th...
متن کاملSimple, Near-Optimal Quantum Protocols for Die-Rolling
Die-rolling is the cryptographic task where two mistrustful, remote parties wish to generate a random D-sided die-roll over a communication channel. Optimal quantum protocols for this task have been given by Aharon and Silman (New Journal of Physics, 2010) but are based on optimal weak coin-flipping protocols which are currently very complicated and not very well understood. In this paper, we f...
متن کاملQuantum dice rolling: a multi-outcome generalization of quantum coin flipping
The problem of quantum dice rolling (DR)—a generalization of the problem of quantum coin flipping (CF) to more than two outcomes and parties— is studied in both its weak and strong variants. We prove by construction that quantum mechanics allows for (i) weak N -sided DR admitting arbitrarily small bias for any N and (ii) two-party strong N -sided DR saturating Kitaev’s bound for any N . To deri...
